The Future Looks Bright For Solar

With climate change being at the forefront of people’s minds, many around the nation are choosing to go green by installing solar systems for their homes and businesses. At NC Solar Now, this increase in popularity for solar on both a personal and businesses level makes us happy beyond anyone’s comprehension. (Jump up and down happy…with a ridiculous smile type of happy!)

While we will try to keep our giddiness in check, it is easy to see why we are so ecstatic.

  1. The cost of solar is down in recent years.
  2. There has been a dramatic growth in the solar industry.
  3. This growth is creating jobs for the industry and our economy.

Our joy comes from the idea that solar and job growth are looking rather bright— there is nothing a solar company likes better than bright statistics!

National Solar Job Census

This is the part where we brag about solar and give you some mind blowing facts to showcase our enthusiasm. Let the celebratory rant begin!

The Solar Foundation, a nonprofit educational and research organization, issued the National Solar Jobs Census to provide a comprehensive look at the U.S solar workforce data. The report showed two awesome growths for solar.

  • Since the first Solar Job Census was issued in 2010, American solar jobs have increased 167%. There were just over 93,000 jobs in 2010, and in 2019 it was 249,983 jobs.
  • In the five-year period between 2014 and 2019, solar employment increased 44%, five times faster than job growth in the overall U.S. economy.

****Dramatic Pause for effect! We will give you a minute to let that sink in! ****

It is important to note that solar jobs also increased in 31 states in 2019. In fact, the state with the most jobs added in 2019 was Florida, followed by Georgia, Utah, New York, Texas, Illinois, and Virginia. According to Andrea Luecke, President and Executive Director of The Solar Foundation, “The solar industry has been one of America’s leading job creators over the past decade, as evidenced by our annual National Solar Jobs Census.”

The Future Looks Bright for Solar!

We believe that with the Federal Solar Tax Credit incentive, solar popularity will continue to grow! More and more people are seeing the benefits of solar and the government is also on board. We know that some sort of Green New Deal legislation will be coming down the pipeline in the future, and this will have an impact on the solar industry. With the continued interest in solar, jobs in the solar industry will continue to grow!

Back to the Happy Rant….We Mean Dance

While we think all of this information speaks for itself, we can’t help wanting to share it with the world. Scream it from the rooftops and dance around like Gene Kelly in the rain while twirling our umbrellas. Solar is taking the world by storm one job at a time and we can’t wait to see what happens in 2021!
